Estepona is situated on the east side of the Costa del Sol offering a more traditional port village to that of Puerto Banus. The small town is also referred to as the 'old town' largely due to the fact that it has managed to keep its original feel, unlike its better known counterparts along the coast.
The Estepona town has unique feel only similar to Marbella old town. The old cobbled streets at the heart of the pueblo, give the feeling of a traditional Spanish town. Which despite the large amounts of tourist visitors, it still is. Among these small streets are many boutique shops that offer a range of unusual products.
The port itself is a favorite amongst many who deem Puerto Banus too ostentatious for their liking. Still an active fishing port there is a real bustle in the area. Amongst the boats and its restaurants the port offers a Spanish market on most Sundays.
Property in the area is amongst the best value for money on the coast. This is owed largely to the fact that Estepona can still, just about, lay claim to being an undiscovered town. There are many villas and apartments to choose in the area and many with sea views. If you are after a traditional Spanish setting then Estepona is very much the right choice for you.
The facilities surrounding this area offer all you would expect from a town of its size. The town also benefits from a very good private school, San Jose. There is also a selection of facilities including gyms, sports clubs and a hospital amongst many others. Estepona offers some of the best restaurants on the coast, not only in its port but also in its main town center.
