MarbellaMarbella has long been the town synonymous with the Costa del Sol, famous for many reasons and always living up to its motto 'a way of life'. The way of life in Spain in far different to that of the UK, and any other European destination. The Spanish tend to prioritize their values in life differently here, you work to live rather than live to work. This along, with a well balanced Mediterranean diet, is the secret behind the better health and happier disposition. Marbella embraces this ethos and takes full advantage of it fantastic location.
Unlike most towns on the coast you can not associate one characteristic with Marbella. As you would expect from one of the biggest towns on the coast Marbella is split into two areas, the 'Old Town' and the new town. The 'Old Town' as the name suggests is a more traditional and Spanish feeling area. Set around several stunning features. The first, and arguably most famous, is 'La Plaza de Los Naranjos' known in English as 'The Orange Square'. This beautiful setting is surrounded by boutique shops offering some fantastic products from unusual gifts to clothing. In the area of The Orange Square is the town hall, a 16th century building. From here you can also benefit from the tourist office supplying details on all the activities. Ranging from glass bottom boat trips to walks along the 'Avenida del Mar' promenade. Venture away from this setting and you enter the more cosmopolitan areas of the port and sea front. Where you can sample a mix of pricier cordon bleu restaurants, or opt for the tapas bars dotted around. In this area you will find a mix of high street, independent and designer shops.
The well blended town's property is also as varied, from the glitzy areas of the 'Golden Mile' to the traditional style housing of 'The Old Town'. If you're lucky enough you may be able to buy one of the, luxury multi-million euro villas on the sea front. The area has long been associated with the rich and famous of the world. This is largely thanks to Playboy aristocrat Prince Alfonso von Hohenlohe. In 1954 he added two wings onto his Marbella beachfront home to cope with a steady stream of eminent guests from Arisotle Onassis to Grace Kelly. His house became a hotel - the Marbella Club - and Marbella soon became a match for Monte Carlo and Biarritz. Buying in such an area leaves you in a truly privileged position whatever your budget. Marbella is centrally located on the Costa del Sol meaning you are no further than 40 minutes away from just about anywhere in the region. The airport is around 40 minutes away as is Malaga itself. You can be in Puerto Banus within 10 minutes and Estepona in just 20. Within the towns limits you are spoilt with a selection of services and essentials. There are plenty of schools for all ages. Additionally there are health centres, gyms and spas in abundance and even a hospital. There are also many clubs for all ages and nationalities to join.
